MARBLETOWN – A 73-year-old Accord woman was killed in a head-on car crash on Thursday morning, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office reported on Friday.
Deputies said the 9 a.m. incident occurred in the area of 4174 Route 209 between Old Kings Highway and Kapetanakis Lane.
The initial investigation revealed a 2001 Porsche Boxster was driving north on Route 209 when it crossed into the southbound lane of traffic and struck a 2017 Toyota Prius head on.
The driver of the Porsche, Carol Sturm, 73, of Accord was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver of the Toyota was identified as a 74-year-old Rosendale man who was transported by Marbletown Rescue Squad to MidHudson Regional Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation into the crash is continuing.
Detectives were assisted at the scene by members of the State Police, Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, Marbletown Rescue Squad, Mobile Life Support Services, Stone Ridge Fire Company and the Kripplebush-Lyonsville Fire Company.
