Tri-county drug bust nets large amount of fentanyl, heroin

POUGHKEEPSIE – A three-month investigation by the Dutchess County Drug Task Force has resulted in the arrest of a 26-year-old Newburgh man who was allegedly involved in drug sales in Dutchess, Orange and Ulster counties.

Laquan Falls was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance – fentanyl – with intent to sell.

When he was taken into custody by task force agents, he was in possession of a significant quantity of fentanyl as well as other illegal drugs, police said.

Search warrants related to the investigation were executed in the three counties resulting in the seizure of additional narcotics.

Falls was arraigned in Poughkeepsie City Justice Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail.

He also has a federal arrest warrant stemming from this investigation.

The Dutchess County Drug Task Force was assisted by the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team, US Drug Enforcement Agency, US Probation, Dutchess and Ulster County Sheriff’s Offices, City of Poughkeepsie Neighborhood Recovery Unit, Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force, State Division of Parole, Newburgh City Police and Town of Lloyd Police.
