New Castle PD honors officers during police week

NEW CASTLE – The New Castle Police Department, serving the Westchester Town of Chappaqua, held an awards ceremony on Wednesday, during National Police Week 2022.  Several members of the department were recognized for their actions over the past year.

Police Chief James Carroll and Lieutenant James Dumser presented awards to the following members:
  • Officer Daniel Rifenburgh – Lifesaving Award – Overdose
  • Sgt. Christopher Rolison & Field Training Officer (FTO) Jamel Jones – Lifesaving Award – Overdose
  • Det./Sgt. Christopher Ragni, Det. Anthony Chiarlitti, Det. Kevin Watts and Officer Jason Ramirez – Excellent Service Award – Rape investigation involving a father and his adopted children resulting in three felony charges including Rape 2nd.
  • Sgt. Keith Skerritt & Officer Joseph Carbone – Excellent Service Award –
  • Sgt. Jeffrey Merritt – Letter of Commendation – Noncompliant intoxicated male encounter resulting in a Criminal Possession of a Firearm Arrest.
  • FTO Thomas Mirabella – Excellent Service Award – Suicidal female with a knife to her stomach and throat – after de-escalating the situation, one knife was dropped and the other handed to the officer resulting in only self-inflicted superficial wounds.
  • Civilian Award – John Stiloski
