LLOYD – A head-on crash on Route 299 in the Town of Lloyd just before 5:30
p.m. Tuesday claimed the life of a Lloyd man, State Police report.
Alfredo Gomes, 58, was pronounced dead at MidHudson Regional Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. The driver of the other vehicle, Ashley Guerrero, 35, from the City of Poughkeepsie, was transported to Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said preliminary investigation revealed that Gomes was driving a 1997 Toyota Corolla westbound on Route 299 when he collided with a 2021 Volvo traveling eastbound.
The Volvo, operated by Guerrero was approaching the intersection with Park Lane when the Corolla crossed over the double yellow line, traveled through the center turning lane and struck the Volvo head-on causing the Volvo to roll over.
The investigation is continuing.
