FISHKILL – A bus transporting inmates to Greenhaven Correctional Facility erupted in fights late Tuesday afternoon, requiring the assistance of New York State Police.  The incident occurred as the bus was traveling eastbound on I-84 just before 6:00 p.m.

A trooper noticed the bus pulled over on I-84 near the interchange with Route 9 and stopped to perform a welfare check.  When he approached the bus, the trooper noticed several fights and called for assistance.

Multiple troopers responded to the location and worked to secure the scene and then escorted the bus to its destination in Stormville.

The bus was reported to have been carrying 14 prisoners, four corrections officers, and one supervisor.  One inmate is reported to have sustained serious injuries in the chaos.
