ALBANY – State Senator Michael Martucci’s legislation, known as Billy’s Law, has advanced through the Senate Codes Committee on a vote that crossed party lines.
Martucci called the approval “an enormous step toward justice for Assistance Chief Billy Steinberg – the bill’s namesake who was as volunteer with the Forestburgh Fire Company who died in the line of duty at a fire started by a serial arsonist earlier this year.”
He said this measure is “a step in the right direction for public safety in our state.”
Martucci said he will continue his push to have the bill advanced to the Senate floor.
