Teen charged with child sex offenses

SAUGERTIES – An 18-year-old Kingston man has been arrested by Saugerties Police on felony charges of sexual performance by a child, using a child in a sexual performance, and promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child.

The suspect was 17 at the time of the crimes and was released on a police appearance ticket returnable to the Youth Part of Ulster County Court.

“Adolescent Offender” is a new category that was created through the Raise the Age legislation, pertaining to 16- or 17-year-olds who commit a felony-level crime. Those cases are now heard in Youth Part of County Criminal Court.

On March 17, 2022, the Saugerties Police Department’s Detective Division received a complaint from an underage girl that an 18-year-old man from Kingston was producing videos of Children in the act of sexual performance.

Through the court of the investigation, detectives established evidence through a search warrant that the man was producing videos and photographs of children performing sexual acts.

On May 13, the 18-year-old was arrested by the Saugerties Police Detective Division and charged.
