Suspect in “shots fired” call apprehended with gun and drugs

POUGHKEEPSIE – A 46-year-old man was arrested Saturday night on North White Street on several felonies after police responded to the area for a report of shots fired.

City 911 received a report of shots fired on Saturday night at approximately 10:32 p.m. and the caller provided a description of the alleged suspect.  Multiple police units responded to the area of North White Street and located a subject matching the description.  The subject, now identified as Frederick Priester, unsuccessfully attempted to run away from the police.

Once apprehended, a loaded .45 caliber handgun and a quantity of narcotics were found in Priester’s possession.

Priester was charged with the felonies of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance (two counts), criminal possession of a firearm, and criminal possession of stolen property. He was booked and held for arraignment.
