POUGHKEEPSIE – The number of positive COVID cases throughout the state is beginning to rise again.  As of May 9th, there were 6,575 new cases in the state.  Locally, officials in the Hudson Valley are asking people to exercise caution to prevent the virus from spreading.

As of May 7th, there were an estimated 739 infected people in isolation in Dutchess County.  On March 12th there were only 107 cases in the county.

Dutchess County issued a reminder on social media on Tuesday. “COVID cases have been on the rise around the state in recent weeks, the flu is still around, and allergy season is picking up,” the county warned.

“This is a good reminder to stay home if you’re feeling sick and, if you have COVID symptoms, it’s smart to get tested so you know what you have and how to protect yourself and your community,” the county added.
