KINGSTON – Lieutenant governor candidate Ana Maria Archila came to Kingston on Wednesday to join a rally calling on the state to adopt good cause eviction legislation.

Measures have already been adopted locally in Newburgh, Beacon, Kingston and other communities.

The conversation with Archila turned to her political race given that Governor Hochul this week named Congressman Antonio Delgado as her new ‘number-two.’

Archila told Mid-Hudson News that puts her behind the eight ball, especially when, as she put it, the governor changes the rules at the last minute.

“When the governor, instead of using her power to address the needs of New Yorkers who are facing an affordability crisis, she uses her power to change election law at the last minute so that she can announce a new running-mate after failing to vet her first original lieutenant governor,” she said. “It is clear that the game is stacked against other candidates who do not have the power to change the rules of the game.”

Archila, a Brooklyn resident, joined For the Many, Citizen Action, and other organizations in support of statewide good cause eviction legislation.
