Newburgh city PD investigating NFA bomb threats as criminal acts

NEWBURGH – The Newburgh City Police Department is conducting criminal investigations into the two bomb threats made on Monday, May 2 to Newburgh Free Academy Main Campus and North Campus.

Police, with assistance from bomb-sniffing canine units, searched both schools with negative results.

Now, city police have commenced an investigation along with the State Police, Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force and the FBI.

Police said when those responsible are arrested, they will face charges of making a terroristic threat and falsely reporting an incident, both felonies and each carrying two to seven years in state prison.
