PORT JERVIS – A 27-year-old male stabbing victim was transported by ambulance to Garnet Health Medical Center Friday afternoon after being assaulted on lower Church Street in Port Jervis.

Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden said a call came into the Orange County 911 Center at 2:40 p.m., reporting the stabbing at 4 Church Steet.  Upon arrival, officers found the victim had sustained two stab wounds to his back and was bleeding profusely.  Officers rendered aid until Port Jervis Ambulance arrived and began interviewing the many who had witnessed the incident.

Worden said officers and detectives were continuing the investigation and interviews through the afternoon.  While no one had yet been taken into custody as of about 5 p.m., this was not a random attack.  The victim told police that he knew the person who stabbed him.

The incident remains under investigation with police actively working the case.
