Dryer explosion sends one to hospital

CRONOMER VALLEY – An explosion believed to have involved a dryer, resulted in one person sustaining burn injuries, EMS officials said late Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred in a house at 260 Gardnertown Road in the Cronomer Valley section of the Town of Newburgh.

Town of Newburgh EMS transported the victim to Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital. The patient was later transferred to the burn unit at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.

The Town of Newburgh building inspector and Orange County fire investigator were called to the scene to inspect structural damage to the house.

Goodwill and Plattekill fire departments assisted Cronomer Valley at the scene with Middle Hope on standby.
