Smoke billowing from 65 Parksville Road

PLEASANT VALLEY – Firefighters from multiple departments battled a two-alarm fire in a multi-family dwelling and saved the building from being destroyed Friday night.  The structure at 65 Parksville Road contains seven apartments.

Pleasant Valley Second Assistant Fire Chief John Cronk was first to arrive at the secluded property just after 10:00 p.m. and confirmed that flames were blowing out of the side of the building, and requested a second alarm to summon additional manpower and equipment from surrounding departments.

After ensuring that all of the tenants were out of the building, firefighters worked quickly to prevent the flames from engulfing the entire structure.  “I am so proud of our firefighters and the work they did tonight,” Cronk told Mid-Hudson News.  “They did a lot of work before the other departments arrived to help.”

The Dutchess County Fire Investigation Division arrived at the scene of the fire to investigate the cause and origin of the fire.

The building sustained substantial fire, smoke, and water damage.

Pleasant Valley firefighters were assisted at the scene by career firefighters from the Arlington and LaGrange fire departments as well as volunteer firefighters from the Roosevelt, Millbrook, and Union Vale fire departments.  EMS standby at the scene was provided by NDP.

There were no reported injuries to firefighters or residents.
