Fire at the Baker camp

THIELLS – What started out as an early morning brush fire damaged six cabins and burned several acres of woods at Baker Camp at Lake Sebago in Thiells on Saturday.

Crews worked for hours on the fire that was called in around 6:15 a.m. as several brush fires erupted and cabins caught fire.

Firefighters were challenged by the layout, lack of water supply, and a demand for more manpower. Some 50 members of the fire service operated at the incident.

Assisting Thiells at the scene were firefighters from Hillburn, Tallman, Sloatsburg, Hillcrest, and New City.
