Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney meeting with US service members in Europe recently

MOSCOW – Russian President Vladimir Putin has sanctioned Hudson Valley Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney for his comments condemning the Russian dictator for invading Ukraine.

The list was published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and Maloney is number 212 on it.  The entire document in Russian can be found here.  Readers using Google Chrome as their browser can use the same link and click on the Google Translate option at the top right of the page to view it in English.

Maloney is not deterred by the dictator’s move. “Putin can sanction me all he wants. It won’t stop us,” the congressman said in a Tweet.

“The reality is, he has failed. His criminal conduct has made the NATO alliance & US-Europe relations stronger than ever,” Maloney said. “I’ve seen it first-hand. I just left Slovakia & Poland after meetings about support for Ukraine.”

Prior to leaving for Europe last week, Maloney again condemned Putin.

“The most important thing is that Putin fail in Ukraine and that Ukrainians get their country back and that there be some accountability and some justice for these horrific crimes that have been committed with so many innocent people losing their lives,” Maloney said. “People should be very clear – Vladimir Putin is an evil man and he needs to be brought to justice.”

Putin released a list of just under 400 people who he has sanctioned and Maloney is number 212 on that list.  The entire document in Russian can be found here.  Readers using Google Chrome as their browser can use the same link and click on the Google Translate option at the top right of the page to view it in English.
