Galligan and Cellini

MONTICELLO – Long-time Thompson Town Supervisor Tony Cellini is retired now and when the Army veteran was invited to participate in this past week’s Honor Flight to Washington, DC, he asked his friend, Sullivan County District Attorney Megan Galligan to be his companion for the day.

She said it was an extremely emotional day for all of the veterans and for her as well.

“Looking back and seeing for example, at the World War II Memorial, seeing over 4,000 stars on the memorial, each star representing 100 American lives lost, the toll. And looking at Arlington, and all of the white markers, all in a row, there are more than 400,000 people buried there, I believe,” she said.

Cellini served in France and Germany during the Cold War era and he told Galligan that he would visit the cemeteries where American soldiers from the World Wars were buried to pay his respects.
