Fatal New Rochelle fire ruled accidental

NEW ROCHELLE – The March 31 fatal fire in an apartment building at 2 Hamilton Avenue in New Rochelle was accidental and not deemed suspicious, Andrew Sandor, fire commissioner, chief of the city’s fire department.

Sandor announced on Friday that “the fire began in the basement and appears to be electrical in nature.”

Killed in the fire was the building superintendent, 60-year-old Judith Musumeci, who was found dead in her apartment from apparent smoke inhalation, authorities said.
