DEERPARK – The man who fell to his death off Hawk’s Mountain in Sparrowbush on Tuesday afternoon has been identified by State Police as Binh Ledinh, 42, of Lumberland.

Trooper said he was flying a drone on Route 97 at the Hawk’s Nest at around 7:30 in the morning when the drone crashed 17 feet down an embankment. Ledinh attempted to retrieve it and fell approximately 250 to his death, police said.

He was reported missing by his wife in the early afternoon and at 1:45 p.m., he was located. His body was lowered into a rescue boat in the Delaware River where he was transported to the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Assisting in the operation were the Sparrowbush and Port Jervis fire departments and ambulance, Matamoras, Huguenot and Lumberland fire departments, the Orange County Technical Rescue team, Port Jervis EMS, Mobile Life Support Services, West Point, Newburgh Rope Teach, Deerpark Police and state medivac.
