State funds capital projects for Hudson Valley arts, cultural groups; none in Orange and Putnam

ALBANY – Dozens of capital project grants have been awarded to Hudson Valley organizations through the New York State Council on the Arts, but while groups in the counties of Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester received funding, no grants were doled out in Orange and Putnam counties.

The largest grant, for $1 million, was awarded to ArtsWestchester while Women’s Studio Workshop, Inc. in Ulster County received $288,000 and $206,000 was granted to Millay Colony fore the Arts in Columbia County.

Other large grants were also awarded:

  • Bardavon 1869 Opera House, Inc. in Dutchess County – $60,000
  • Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, Inc. in Sullivan County – $95,000
  • National Trust for Historic Preservation in the United States in Westchester – $63,000
  • Wassaic Project in Dutchess County – $51,000

Several organizations were awarded $10,000 grants, including:

  • Ancram Opera House Theater, Inc. in Columbia County
  • Greene County Council on the Arts
  • Hudson Opera House, Inc. in Columbia County
  • Wave Farm, Inc. in Greene County
  • Arts Society of Kingston in Ulster County
  • Edward Hopper House Museum & Study Center in Rockland County
  • Mount Gulian Society in Dutchess County
  • Rosendale Theatre in Ulster County
  • Shadowland Artists, Inc. in Ulster County
