Police investigate Poughkeepsie shooting

POUGHKEEPSIE – City of Poughkeepsie police are investigating a Sunday morning shooting that sent a man to the hospital.

City police were notified by Vassar Brothers Medical Center staff that a man with a gunshot wound had arrived in the hospital’s emergency department shortly before 3 a.m. on Sunday.  He was transported to the facility in a private vehicle.

The 36-year-old victim suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and is in critical condition. The man is currently unable to speak with detectives.

Police are attempting to determine the circumstances surrounding the April 3rd shooting.
