POUGHKEEPSIE – An early morning Thursday visit by New York State Parole Officers, assisted by the City of Poughkeepsie Police resulted in the arrest of three individuals on felony gun charges.

At about 5:20 a.m. the parole and police officers performed a check on 33-year-old parolee Justin Deines.  While inspecting the Dubois Avenue residence, a defaced .44 caliber Ruger revolver was recovered.  Deines refused to admit ownership of the handgun and the two other occupants also denied owning the weapon.

Deines, 21-year-old Brandon Clark, and 22-year-old Caitlin Michell were all taken into custody and transported to police headquarters for processing.  The three each face two felony charges of criminal possession of a weapon.  One count is for the weapon and the second charge is because the serial number had been removed.

In June of 2016 Deines was arrested by state police and charged with felony weapons possession when the police found him in possession of a defaced, fully-loaded .40 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun.  More on that arrest can be read by clicking here.

“In the course of carrying out their duties in checking on a parolee, the state parole officers requested the assistance of our department.  The joint efforts have taken yet another illegal deadly weapon off the streets of Poughkeepsie,” said Police Captain Rich Wilson.

Justin Deines is likely to face a parole violation charge.  His parole information can be found here.
