Lottery winner robbed on Main Street

POUGHKEEPSIE – A man who forcibly robbed another man of lottery winnings has been arrested by the City of Poughkeepsie police.  The incident occurred on Saturday and the suspect was arrested on Sunday.

 

According to police, 54-year-old Thomas Brown robbed a man who had just cashed a winning lottery ticket at a store on the 400 block of Main Street on Saturday.  The victim told police that he had cashed the ticket in and left the store, at which time he was followed by a man, now identified as Brown.  The perpetrator allegedly used force to take the victim’s winnings and fled the area.

 

On Sunday, March 27 at approximately 10:52 a.m., investigating officers located Brown and he was taken into custody without incident.

 

Brown was charged with the felony of robbery and the misdemeanor of assault. He was booked and held for arraignment.
