Red Hook man arrested for rape of child

RED HOOK – State Police at Rhinebeck have arrested a 64-year-old Red Hook man on charges of rape and criminal sex act, both as felonies for allegedly raping a child.

Following a law enforcement tip, investigators determined Gary Cowperthwaite allegedly sexually assaulted a child.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail, $40,000 secured bond, or $80,000 partially secured bond.
