MONTICELLO – Village Police in Monticello have charged three high school boys with selling cannabis edibles – cookies – to three girls who became ill after ingesting them.

The girls reported difficulty breathing and exhibited signs of an altered mental status, police said. They were taken to Garnet Health Medical Center Catskill in Harris for medical evaluation.

A review of Monticello High School surveillance video showed the illegal sales taking place, leading to charges against three boys.

A 14-year-old and two 16-year-olds were charged with felony criminal sale of a controlled substance, endangering the welfare of a child, and reckless endangerment.

They were each issued appearance tickets to appear in Sullivan County Family Court.
