Sullivan County man charged with manslaughter after dumping woman’s body in cemetery

LIBERTY – A Sullivan County grand jury has indicted a man on a charge of manslaughter after he allegedly intentionally caused and aided in a woman’s suicide death and left her body in a cemetery.

Liberty Village Police found the body of Amanda Alger, 31, in a secluded area of Liberty Cemetery on Cold Spring Road on March 2. It was dumped there on February 28, police said.

On March 9, a Sullivan County grand jury indicted Kenneth Alger, III, 38, who was remanded to the county jail without bail.

The investigation was conducted by Liberty Village and State Police and the county district attorney’s office.

Police did not say what the relationship was, if any, between the two, nor the cause of death.
