Suspect involved in police shooting arrested

WESTCHESTER COUNTY – A Fishkill man involved in an officer-involved shooting in late February has been arrested by the State Police.  Michael Becerril, 29, had approached three Fishkill officers with a knife while the police were responding to a separate domestic incident on February 27.

After an officer deployed his TASER at Becerril with no effect, a physical altercation between Becerril, armed with a knife, and three Fishkill cops ensued.

During the tussle, several gunshots were fired, with Becerril and 30-year-old Chassity Wade both suffering gunshot wounds.  Becerril was transported to the Westchester Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition.  Wade was treated at Montefiore St. Luke’s – Cornwall Hospital.

Becerril was arrested by State Police on Tuesday, charged with felony Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

Becerril was arraigned virtually by the sitting Westchester County Supreme Court Justice Fufidio and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail, $250,000 secure bond, or $500,000 unsecured bond pending release from Westchester Medical Center.

The State Police are still investigating the shooting incident that occurred at The Views at Rocky Glenn in Fishkill.
