STEWART AIRPORT – Frontier Airlines has announced the launch of nonstop service between New York Stewart International Airport and Atlanta and Raleigh-Durham. The airline known for low fares said that tickets will be as low as $39.

The service to Atlanta, Georgia is scheduled to take off three times per week beginning on May 26, 2022. North Carolina’s “Research Triangle” will be accessed through twice-weekly flights between Stewart and Raleigh-Durham International Airport, also beginning on May 26, 2022.

“We are excited to announce this expansion of service at New York Stewart International Airport,” said Will Evans, senior manager of sales and distribution for Frontier Airlines. “With the addition of these new routes, we will offer nonstop service to a total of five destinations from New York Stewart International Airport.”

“The Port Authority remains committed to offering greater connectivity to more destinations from this airport,” said Omar Astacio, interim general manager of New York Stewart International Airport. “The expansion of Frontier’s service is an essential part of the Port Authority’s overall effort to achieve growth and become more competitive, and we look forward to our continued partnership in this endeavor.”

Airline executives announced that the introductory fares between Stewart and Atlanta are as low as $39 and the flights to Raleigh-Durham will be as low as $49. The introductory fares offered to the new destinations have certain restrictions that, among other things, require the tickets to be purchased by March 15, 2022.  The additional restrictions and requirements can be found on Frontier’s website.

Frontier recently announced a merger with Spirit Airlines, another low-cost carrier in February, as reported here.

“Frontier has enjoyed success at Stewart Airport since its arrival in October and the addition of service to Atlanta and Raleigh-Durham is a testament to its commitment to Orange County,” County Executive Steven Neuhaus said. “I have flown Frontier to travel for the military and my experience has been extremely positive. The County appreciates Frontier making this investment into Stewart, which continues to be an integral part of the region’s economic development and tourism initiatives.”
