GOSHEN – Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus, a lieutenant commander in the US Navy Reserves, assigned to the Pacific Fleet, announced on Monday that he is being mobilized overseas to Europe.

“I look forward to completing my mission and returning as quickly as possible to get back to my family and to serve the residents of Orange County,” he said.

Neuhaus was previously on active duty with the Navy from November 2018 to June 2019, during which he served with the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force. He spent most of his deployment in Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, the US military campaign against ISIS.

He also served overseas in South Korea in 2017 and North Africa in 2011.

In Neuhaus’ absence, Deputy County Executive Harry Porr and Legislature Chairwoman Katie Bonelli will oversee county operations.
