HARRISON – State Police are investigating a car accident on I-684 on Monday morning that claimed the life of a 15-year-old girl from Waterbury, Connecticut.  The February 21st accident occurred on the northbound side of I-684 in Harrison.

State Troopers say that a car driven by 19-year-old Tyanna Spalding of Waterbury, Connecticut was traveling north with 15-year-old Destiny Coleman as a passenger when the vehicle struck the guide rail in the median and became disabled in the left lane.  Both Spalding and Coleman, also of Waterbury, exited the vehicle moments before it was struck by another car that was also traveling north.

The collision pushed Spalding’s car into Coleman, fatally injuring her.  Westchester paramedics pronounced Coleman dead at the scene.

The second vehicle was driven by 38-year-old Beacon resident Elaine Montleon. The surviving Spalding and Montleon were both transported to Westchester Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation by the State Police and the Westchester Medical Examiner’s Office is ongoing.  Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call the state police at 845-677-7300.
