NEW PALTZ – A New York City man has been arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated DWI both misdemeanors and two counts of driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle, a felony.

At about 10 p.m. on February 1, State Police discovered a disabled vehicle that had run out of gas on the Thruway in the Town of New Paltz.

While interviewing the driver, identified as Eric Ramos, 45, of New York City, it was determined that he was intoxicated, had a suspended license and had two 13-year-old children in the car.

The children were given a ride to the police station and turned over to a family member.

Ramos was taken into custody, transported and processed at the Kingston barracks where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.18 percent. The legal limit is 0.08 percent.

He was charged and released to a sober third party and issued appearance tickets returnable to town court next month.
