CORTLANDT – Thursday day court of Town of Cortlandt has been moved to Wednesday evenings.

The proposal was approved by the town board and by the ninth Judicial District Administrative judge.

Judge Maritza Fugaro-Norton is presiding over the night sessions that began on Wednesday, February 2.

As with day sessions, all types of cases will be heard including penal law, vehicle and traffic law, parking, town ordinances, and civil matters.

The Monday day session will remain at its normal time.

Night court provides the community greater access to the justice system and is an efficient way to handle cases for people whose life challenges are compounded when forced to attend court during the usual workday hours, judicial officials said.
