GOSHEN – A 23-year-old Newburgh woman was sentenced to 10 years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision for stabbing another woman.  The assault took place in June of 2021.

Ariana Sanchez admitted to repeatedly stabbing a woman on Dubois Street in the City of Newburgh on June 19, 2021. The victim suffered serious injuries.  Sanchez pled guilty to felony assault in December.

At the sentencing hearing, the District Attorney’s Office recommended that Sanchez get 12 years in prison.

“The defendant’s violent and unjustified use of a weapon to assault another person is reprehensible,” said DA David Hoovler. “Hopefully the victim’s wounds will heal with time. The community will be safer during the decade that this defendant is in state prison.”
