Newburgh car accident leads to assault, robbery

NEWBURGH – Police in the City of Newburgh are looking for a man who assaulted a 68-year-old motorist following an accident in the area of West Street and Van Ness Street.

The incident occurred around 10 a.m. on January 26.

Responding officers located one of the cars involved along with the driver, who had been attacked. Property had been stolen from the man before the suspect fled the scene.

The attacker is described as being a black man, about six feet tall, with a heavy build. He was in the company of a black woman, both of whom spoke with a Haitian accident. They were in a gray older model Acura TL.
