NEWBURGH – The Newburgh City Police Department wants to know what the community thinks about it and how it can improve so it is conducting a one-month survey.

City Police Commissioner Jose Gomerez said it is designed to provide guidance going forward.

“It’s going to give us a perspective as to how we can plan and into the future to engage and how to tackle the best plan for our community relations,” he said.

The survey is funded by the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services and will be compiled by the National Police Foundation, an independent not-for-profit, non-member research organization.

Individual responses will go directly to the foundation, not to the department.
