POUGHKEEPSIE – The state’s recent decision to end contact tracing for those who contract COVID-19 does not mean contact tracing is a thing of the past, said Dutchess County Health Commissioner Dr. Livia Santiago-Rosado.

She said it is now up to the individual to let others know that he or she caught the virus.

“It’s really important for the individual to now become responsible for, number one, if you are sick, getting yourself tested, and if you come back positive, to inform your contacts, those people with whom you spent at least 15 minutes within a 24-hour period and within six feet of them,” she said.

Home testing kits are now available and the state, counties and private medical facilities are providing testing for COVID-19.
