Inmate charged with destroying jail property

KINGSTON – An inmate in the Ulster County Jail has been charged with two counts of criminal mischief and promoting prison contraband following an incident on Sunday, January 2.

Raymond Morris, 27, of Saugerties, who is in jail on unrelated charges, allegedly damaged a computer monitor after refusing orders from corrections officers.

During the investigation, several containers of fermented fruit and other unknown liquid substances were discovered in his cell.

Morris remains incarcerated in jail and will appear in Kingston City Court on the new charges at a later date.
