FORESTBURGH – A Sullivan County firefighter died Saturday after fighting a fire at a bungalow colony in the Town of Thompson.
Forestburgh Fire District officials announced that Assistant Chief William Steinberg passed away.
The department was called in by the Monticello Fire Department under mutual aid to a structure fire at 65 Rockridge Road in the Town of Thompson.
Steinberg collapsed, went into cardiac arrest, was treated on scene, and was rushed to Garnet Health Medical Center Catskill, where he passed away.
One bungalow was destroyed and the fire damaged a second one.
