GOSHEN – A 24-year-old Port Jervis man faces up to 12 years in state prison when sentenced in March on his guilty plea to drug possession.

Dashell Powlus entered the plea before Orange County Court Judge Hyun Chin Kim.

The drugs were recovered from Powlus’ apartment when Port Jervis Police and the Special Operations Group of the sheriff’s office executed a search warrant on April 30, 2021 and seized 123 glassine envelopes of fentanyl, a digital scale, additional glassine bags and cash.

At the time he pled guilty, Powlus admitted he was intending to sell the fentanyl.

He is being held without bail in the Orange County Jail pending his sentencing.

“Overdoses killed well over 100 Orange County residents last year,” said District Attorney David Hoovler. “There is no single drug killing more people in Orange County than fentanyl.”
