Police helicopter flies low over the Hudson looking for a man who jumped off the Mid-Hudson Bridge

POUIGHKEEPSIE – Marine units were deployed on the Hudson River at Poughkeepsie following a report of a man jumping off the Mid-Hudson Bridge.

The police alert came in minutes before 11 a.m. on Thursday.

Train traffic along the shorelines has been instructed to slow down to allow first responders safe access to the river.

Lloyd Police were assisted at the scene by the State Police, State Police Aviation unit, Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, City of Poughkeepsie Police, City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department, Highland Fire Department, Ulster Hose Company Dive Team, United States Coast Guard, and the New York State Bridge Authority.
