LOCH SHELDRAKE – SUNY Sullivan has decided to delay the opening of the spring semester by one week because of a surge in COVID-19. All classes will now start on Wednesday, January 26.
For on-campus residents of Lazarus Levine Residence Hall, move-in will now take place on Tuesday, January 25.
The spring semester will end as scheduled with graduation on May 14.
“As we continue to navigate the pandemic and the Omicron variant continues to be incredibly infectious, we are seeing the number of positive cases climb, and importantly, the number of patients hospitalized at near all-time highs in Sullivan County, we made the decision to delay the start of the semester by one week,” said SUNY Sullivan President Jay Quaintance. “We will also increase our testing protocols and continue to wear masks inside when we are in the presence of others.”
All college employees returning to campus will be required to either have a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of their arrival date or a negative rapid test on campus immediately upon their return.
Moving forward, all staff and faculty will be required to test weekly regardless of vaccination status.
Social distancing and mask wearing guidelines remain in effect.
