LAGRANGE – The Arlington Central School District (ACSD) is continuing to alter school schedules after several bus drivers recently tested positive for COVID, as reported by Mid-Hudson News HERE.  ACSD Superintendent Dr. Dave Moyer sent an email to district parents on Saturday announcing schedule changes for the upcoming week.

“Due to the number of transportation staff who have tested positive for COVID-19 or who have been identified as close contacts, providing transportation for all Arlington students the week of January 10 – January 14 will continue to be a challenge,” Moyer told the families.

Focusing on providing in-person instruction for younger students and children with special needs, Moyer announced the following schedule for Monday, January 10 to Friday, January 14, 2022:

Elementary School

All elementary school students will return for in-person learning on Monday. ENL students will attend their extended day program on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and will receive transportation home.

Middle School

All middle school students will attend in-person learning. There will be no middle school afterschool programs on Monday. The district will determine early next week if they can provide transportation for any middle school afterschool programs, including athletics.

Arlington High School

Arlington High School students will attend remote learning for the week of January 10 to January 14. Arlington High School students will follow the High School Remote Learning Schedule. Exceptions to the high school schedule are listed below.

Arlington High School students with disabilities in the 12:1:1 Life Skills Program or who attend a BOCES or out-of-district special education program will be transported and will attend in-person instruction. All other AHS students with disabilities in special education programs should follow the remote learning schedule.

Bus routes may be modified for students in the 12:1:1 Life Skills Program. A member of our transportation staff was scheduled to call families over the weekend if their bus schedule will change for the week of January 10 to January 14. Families in the Life Skills Program can also call the Transportation Department on Monday at (845) 486-4955 beginning at 5:30 a.m. with any questions.

BOCES Career and Technical Institute
Students that attend the Dutchess County BOCES Career and Technical Institute (CTI) on a half-day schedule will not be provided transportation to-and-from CTI  for the week of January 10 to January 14.

Athletics

Athletics will continue at the high school and middle schools.  There may be some modifications to schedules.  If your child is affected, you will be notified directly. The district is unable to provide transportation to or from practices. Athletes should contact their coaches with any questions.

January 11 Board of Education Meeting
The January 11 Board of Education meeting will be held at Vail Farm Elementary School and will be broadcast on YouTube. Members of the community can watch the meeting on at Arlington Communications YouTube Channel or attend in-person at Vail Farm. Please check the district websites for any updates prior to the meeting.

As a reminder, masks are required for in-person attendance. If you wish to make a public comment via Zoom, you must log in to a separate webinar. Anyone wishing to make a public comment must sign up prior to the start of the meeting. Click here for important information about signing up to make a public comment either in-person or via  Zoom.
