KINGSTON – The state’s bail reform laws resulted in the release of a Town of Hurley couple who was arrested just before 1:30 New Year’s morning in the City of Kingston.

State Police stopped the 2010 Nissan Altima in which they were riding on North Front Street for a vehicle and traffic violation.

The driver, Jeannie Ferraro, 21, was found in possession of a small amount of cocaine and was told by troopers to get out of the car. That’s when she told them there was a gun inside.

They ordered the passenger, Christopher Williams, 38, out of the car after which a search found a five-dollar bill with cocaine residue, a pistol with no serial number, a magazine with bullets, orange pills weighing 91 grams, a switchblade knife, and a suitcase with 10 pounds of marijuana.

Ferraro and Williams were each charged with the felonies of criminal possession of cannabis, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon, and two counts of drug possession, one with intent to sell. They were also charged with misdemeanor drug possession.
Because of the bail reform laws, they were released on their own recognizance.
