CIRCLEVILLE – It is increasingly difficult for schools to find bus drivers this academic year and in the Pine Bush Central School District the shortage of buses has been compounded by vandals.

Pine Bush school buses, owned by the Byrnie Bus Company, are parked at the Circleville Elementary School and on two recent occasions, bus driver seat belts were slashed. With disabled driver seatbelts, the buses cannot roll.

The Wallkill Town Police Department is investigating the incidents that occurred on December 3 and 11. Chief Robert Hertman said five buses were vandalized in the first incident and eight in the second.

The cost of damage totaled $2,500, the chief said.

Those vehicles were grounded until the new parts were ordered, arrived and installed.
