SAUGERTIES – A 56-year-old Saugerties woman had to be extricated from her 2006 Volkswagen Passat on Friday afternoon when she crashed head-on into an Ulster County DPW truck.
Police said the woman failed to negotiate a curve in the area of 53 Kings Highway at around 2:48 p.m. and slammed into the 2015 dump truck occupied by two county employees. They were transported to the hospital in Kingston for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The woman was airlifted to Albany Medical Center.
Saugerties Police are continuing to investigate the incident and said charges are pending against the driver of the VW.
Saugerties Police were assisted at the scene by State Police, The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, Mount Marion Fire Department and Diaz Ambulance.
