POUGHKEEPSIE – Two men were arrested by City of Poughkeepsie police on Friday afternoon after being caught in a car stolen in the Town of Poughkeepsie earlier in the week. The alleged suspects,  Frank Booth, 29, and his accomplice, 33-year-old Franz Bakter, were in a car that was reported stolen the day before in the Town of Poughkeepsie.

City cops pulled the car over on Rose Street at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Friday after recognizing it as a stolen vehicle.

Both men are being charged with possession of stolen property in the city.  The subjects were turned over to the Town of Poughkeepsie police where they will face additional charges.

Bakter, according to police sources, is also wanted by the Wappingers Falls Police Department on a warrant for a larceny charge.

Both the City and Town of Poughkeepsie Police Departments are once again reminding vehicle owners to refrain from leaving their car running when unattended and to remove the vehicle’s keys if it is unoccupied.
