Ulster Executive Pat Ryan – “no increase in tax levy”

KINGSTON – Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan signed the 2022 budget on Friday, which again held the line on taxes while re-investing in mental health and addiction recovery systems and resources, including the re-establishment of an Ulster County Department of Mental Health and a state-of-the-art Mental Health and Addiction Recovery Center to deliver integrated services for inpatient, outpatient, and crisis intervention.

At approximately $353 million, for the third year in a row, the 2022 budget includes no increase in the tax levy and no layoffs to county employees.

The budget includes transformational re-investments in mental health services, dedicating resources to build a more equitable economy, and addressing the urgent need for housing as the county builds for future generations.

“I am proud to have delivered a county budget that for the third year in a row holds the line on taxes, bolsters mental health services, addresses the housing crisis, and provides direct financial support to our small businesses,” said Ryan.

County Legislature Majority Leader Jonathan Heppner said “this year’s budget was a major step forward” for the county. “This smart plan brings together our shared priorities and delivers for all residents.”
