FISHKILL – A Friday evening hit-and-run accident on Route 52 near Millholland Drive in the Town of Fishkill resulted in a 63-year-old woman from the town being hospitalized for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The Fishkill police are seeking to speak with a “Good Samaritan” who stopped at the scene to offer assistance but left before police arrived.

Town police responded, along with state troopers to the 6:20 p.m. accident after 911 received a report of the accident.

Town Police Lieutenant Paul Schettino said that when police arrived, they found the victim on the shoulder of the road, injured, and having difficulty speaking.  She was treated at the scene and transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital by Mobile Life Support Services personnel.

Witnesses told police that an older white man with gray hair, driving an older-model gray Subaru Legacy, stopped to offer assistance but left the scene before the first responders arrived.

“The witnesses provided a good description of the man who assisted but we would like to speak with him further to determine if he can assist in our investigation,” Schettino said. The officer said the man in the Subaru left the scene traveling west on Route 52 towards Beacon.

Schettino noted that investigators recovered pieces of a vehicle that might have been involved in the accident and the police are reviewing video from several security cameras in the area.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is being asked to call the Town of Fishkill Police at 845-831-1110.
