NEW WINDSOR – A $15.8 million bridge reconstruction project on the Thruway over Route 207 in New Windsor has been completed.

The work was finished on time and $1 million under budget.

“Replacing aging infrastructure strengthens our transportation system and provides a safe, reliable travel experience for our motorists,” said Thruway Authority Executive Director Matthew Driscoll.

The original bridge was constructed in 1953 and carries more than 52,000 vehicles daily or some 19 million each year.

The two-year project was completed in stages to maintain two travel lanes in each direction throughout the duration of the project to minimize lane closures.
