RHINEBECK – A 29-year-old Hyde Park man was killed in a three-car crash on Route 9G in Rhinebeck.
State Police identified the victim in the November 27 accident as Jared Hammerling.
Troopers say that Hammerling was traveling north on Route 9G, just south of Slate Quarry Road, and for unknown reasons, his 1997 Honda Civic crossed the double-yellow line and collided with a southbound Subaru Outback. The southbound Subaru was then rear-ended by a Honda Ridgeline that was traveling behind the Subaru.
First responders attempted life-saving measures on Hammerling but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver and passenger of the Subaru were transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Information on the operator of the Honda was not provided.
The investigation remains ongoing.
